As Chief Executive Officer of Sirajganj Economic Zone Limited, MKA Shahinoor Rahman Jahid led the strategic planning and execution of a 1,200-acre integrated industrial ecosystem one of Bangladesh’s largest private economic zone developments.
Operating under the framework of the Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) and aligned with national investment strategy supported by the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA), the project was designed to accelerate industrialization, attract foreign direct investment (FDI), and strengthen export-led growth.
The zone was developed as a fully master-planned industrial platform combining: Industrial land development (1,000+ acres), Multi-modal connectivity (road, rail, river, sea access), Integrated jetty and logistics support, 1,150 MW grid-backed power connectivity, On-demand gas, water, and centralized utilities, Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) with zero-discharge model, One-Stop Service (OSS) investor facilitation. This ecosystem reduced investor lead time, improved supply chain efficiency, and created a plug-and-play environment for manufacturing and logistics enterprises.
Economic Impact by him
The project supports Bangladesh’s long-term industrial growth by: Enabling 100% foreign ownership, providing 10-year tax incentives, allowing full capital and dividend repatriation, creating export-oriented manufacturing clusters, Strengthening domestic and regional supply chains. It has positioned the region as a strategic hub for textiles, agro-processing, pharmaceuticals, light engineering, and logistics.
Sustainability & Responsible Development by him
Sustainability was embedded from inception, including: Zero liquid discharge strategy, Rainwater harvesting, Energy efficiency integration, Scientific waste management systems, Community rehabilitation for over 750 affected families. The development reflects a model of responsible industrialization aligned with environmental and social governance standards.
Strategic Leadership by him
His role required cross-sector coordination among government regulators, infrastructure authorities, multinational investors, and industrial stakeholders. He led: Master planning and land monetization strategy, Utility integration and infrastructure execution, Regulatory alignment with BEZA and national agencies, Investor structuring and public-private collaboration. This experience demonstrates proven capability in delivering large-scale, complex industrial ecosystems that drive economic growth, infrastructure modernization, and sustainable development.
